Local Conservatives have announced plans to scrap Labour’s “Green Bin Tax” over the next four years, should they take over the Council in May.
The £40 charge for collecting green waste has hit tens of thousands of families across Ellesmere Port & Neston who have found themselves with no alternative but to pay the fee. Local Conservatives opposed the introduction of the fee at the time and thousands of residents across the borough signed a petition urging the Council to think again.
Unfortunately, Labour went ahead with the plans and the charge was applied in 2022. However, local Conservatives have made it clear that their opposition to the charge wasn’t an idle pledge and have announced that a Conservative-run Cheshire West & Chester Council would end the tax.
This would include a £10 reduction in year one with the charge gone altogether over the course of the next Council term.
Nicholas Hebson, one of your two candidates in Ledsham & Manor, said: “Not only has this Council continued to increase Council Tax by the maximum every single year, they have hit residents with additional payments for collecting green waste. You deserve better."
Ike Efobi, who is standing alongside Nicholas, added: “A vote for the Conservatives in May is a vote to scrap the Green Bin Tax. We will end this unnecessary and unfair charge on local residents over the next term of the Council.”
